How timely! I just spotted a trackback link to a new blog among our newest comments in our blog margin. The link trackbacks to a previous BBB post on Hosea 6:6 by Peter Kirk. The link is from a new blog hosted by Prof. Mark Hoffman for a class he is teaching at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg this fall semester. The title of his blog is: Opening the Scriptures: OT in the NT.
Prof. Hoffman created the blog for the benefit of the students in his class, but he has invited others to listen in.
Thanks, Prof. Hoffman, for linking to one of our posts which deals with the issue of how Old Testament passages are treated in the New Testament, a complex, difficult, most interesting issue that the Church has been dealing with for centuries.
And, of course, I’m currently dealing with one aspect of this issue as I survey how different English Bible versions translate Old Testament passages in light of how those passages are treated as messianic by N.T. authors.
I have added this new blog to our blogroll.
Stay tuned, both here and on Prof. Hoffman’s blog.
UPDATE: Justin Taylor at Between Two Worlds also blogged today on use of the OT in the NT.
